Let’s look at my personal favorite and what I think is the best camping stove for teardrop trailer camping. Is this the best camping stove you can buy? Maybe not, but let’s look and see why it is such a favorite of many teardrop trailer campers. When you are in your teardrop trailer the boondocks in Maine you need a reliable and effective stove.
It’s a bad feeling to be hours away from civilization and have a stove break down on you. This stove we are going to look at today might not be the absolute best stove you can buy… but it is better than average in every single category.
It’s like the iPhone of camping stoves. The iPhone really isn’t great in any category but across the board it’s a solid 7 – 8 in every category.
If you need something reliable that just works you buy an iPhone. So let’s look at, in our opinion, is the best all around camp stove. The two burner, dual fuel, Colman camp stove.
Yes this stove is the holy grail for camping stoves. These Colman camp stoves last forever. If you have one it has likely been passed down through your family and still works to this day.
Yes it will need some slight maintenance. It obviously won’t last forever if you abuse it and store it in a shed on a dock of the bay. Treat this stove well and maintain it and you will be a happy camper for a long time.
We grew up using this stove and it would work for us every single year. Let’s take a look and see why the Colman camp stove is a staple in the teardrop trailer camping community.

The reason why teardrop trailer campers label this stove as the best camping stove for teardrop trailer camping is the rugged durability and convenience the Colman stove offers.
The stove is only seven inches high and 14 inches wide. That makes it a great option for a teardrop camper. It isn’t hard to configure a small storage space for the stove as you are planning and building your teardrop trailer. It will save lots of valuable space in the teardrop trailer galley.
I like the smaller version of this stove that’s why I go with the 424 version.
There are two bigger versions of this stove but I don’t cook much more than pancakes, eggs, and fresh caught fish when I’m camping in my teardrop. Bigger meats and food I will cook over the fire. The space I save with the smaller version is worth it to me.
The dual fuel Colman stoves have a bigger generator to handle the unleaded gasoline. Using gasoline is not recommended but can be used in a pinch. The camp fuel white gas burns much cleaner and more efficient.
It’s not a big deal to carry a gallon of white gas along with you. Most campground stores or big box stores carry the white gas too. I’ve never had an issue of running out of white gas while camping. I also don’t go out in the woods for weeks on end either.
There are a few other options for camp stoves available but for me I will stick with my trusty Colman 424. It’s rugged, durable, and reliable. I know I can always count on it to work and work well. No matter where I’m teardrop camping I always have my Colman with me. I highly recommend it. It’s also completely made in the good old U. S. of A.
